Drake Loses $2m on Israel Adesanya Defeat
Drake is reported to have lost $2 million (N881.9m) after losing his bet on the UFC 281 middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. The Award-winning famous rapper is said to have placed a $2 million bet on Adesanya to win the fight, but Pereira defeated him instead.
Pereira and Adesanya battled to the fifth round of the main event in New York City; Adesanya had the upper hand for a large amount of the fight, but it was Pereira who stunned the champion with some huge blows, to win the UFC middleweight title.
Pereira defeated Adesanya via technical knockout as he was able to capitalize on a few big punches. Even though Pereira didn’t knock down Adesanya, the referee stopped the fight, when he became unsteady, and declared Pereira the winner.
This was Pereira’s third career victory over Adesanya, with the previous two wins coming in kickboxing matches.
Drake posted his betting slip on his Instagram story, prior to the fight and captioned it, “been focused on the album gotta get back to stacking up.”
Well, it looks like Drake won’t be stacking up on this one. He would’ve won $2.9 million, if Adesanya was victorious.
This is not the first time the rapper has lost huge amount of money on bets, and this might not be the last but his album “her loss”, with 21 Savage is currently at no 1, so he might do some stacking up on that one.
