In this instance, the focus is on the United Kingdom’s national lottery. The UK through its national lottery has been funding British film makers in the production of original British films, since its introduction in the early 90s.
These are some of the ways; the government can help various industries in the society to thrive. The movie industry like lottery is a form of entertainment used to awaken social consciousness on some of the things happening in society.
The Nigerian National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) should look into sponsoring indigenous movies by Nigerian film makers, aimed at promoting social innovation and culture, as part of good causes’ projects. We all align to grow.

The UK film council was awarded part of the funds to produce the movie by the national lottery. On a budget of £8 million, the movie went on to gross over £250 million worldwide. The movie did not only become a box office success, it garnered 12 Oscar nominations; winning 4 awards, including best picture. It Starred Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter.
- Bend It Like Beckham
It Starred Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys and Parminder Nagra. The movie was said to have received £1 million in funding from national lottery and went on to take home over £28 million globally.

The movie starred Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon. It received funding from national lottery and made over £56 million worldwide.
- Constant Gardener
The movie starred Rachel Weisz and Ralph Fiennes. It received part of the funding for its production from national lottery and went on to gross over £53 million on a global scale.
- 28 days Later
The post-apocalyptic horror movie starring Naomie Harris and Cilian Murphy received funds from the national lottery and went on to gross $85.7 million in the box office.
