UK Gambling Commission has suspended the operating license of Bet-at-home.com. Bet-at-home.com Internet Limited, operates bet-at-home.com, bet-at-home.co.uk and uk.bet-at-home.com. The suspension came into effect from the 7th of July, 2022, pending a review of the business by the Commission.
The Commission said that the review and consequent suspension was as a result of concerning reports, that the company’s activities may have been carried out ultra-vires (not covered by their license) and therefore contrary to the Gambling Act 2005 .
Also it was reported that suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings, were crucial considerations in the Commission’s decision to suspend the company’s license, which was done under Sec 18 (2) of the Act; pending the full review of its business, which will be carried out under section 116 of the Act.
According to the Commission, the suspension will not prevent bet-at-home from letting their customers access their accounts, and withdraw funds. The company can be contacted through its website.
Bet-at-home has faced a number of challenges lately; In May, the Company revealed that its revenue dropped by more than 50% in Q1 of 2022, due to regulatory hitches in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Also earlier in the week, the Company suspended its GB Affiliate programme, which is its only marketing channel in the Great Britain.
