The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs (SDIA), Hon. Zephania Jisalo recently paid a courtesy visit to the DG of National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) at the corporate headquarters in Abuja.

The details of the visit were contained in a statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Anastasia Ogbonna.

The Director-General (DG), National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Lanre Gbajabiamila, during the visit, presented various problems faced by the Commission to the Minister.

Amongst the outlined problems was a need for improved remuneration for staff, a problem the minister promised to address with relevant authorities; deployment of a Central Monitoring Systems (CMS) for lottery operations, for the provision of accurate data of operators, and which will also improve revenue generation and lastly; a desire for a permanent accommodation for the Commission, because the continued stay in the rented accommodation has become a big burden.

The Permanent Secretary of SDIA, Ibiene Roberts said the minister’s visit to the commission serves a dual purpose, on one hand to familiarize the ministry with the operations of the Commission and on the other hand to foster greater understanding and cooperation between the ministry and the Commission.

The need for collaboration between the Commission and the Ministry, was reiterated by the PS as it will engender shared vision, transparency and accountability, which will in turn accelerate service delivery while promoting global best practices.

The DG applauded the Minister for the visit, saying that it was a significant step towards fostering a healthier working relationship between the Commission and the supervising Ministry.
