Pastor Closes down church after UGX100m Sports Bet Win

Ugandan Pastor Closes down church after winning UGX 100m from sports-betting.

A Ugandan pastor, David Ochieng, is said to have shut down his church after winning over UGX 100 million schillings, (N21m) from sports betting.

According to local media, after winning the large sum from the bet, the pastor decided to close his ministry, leaving his church members in shock and disbelief.

The pastor was said to have locked the gate to the church building, leaving members that came for mid-week service stranded and confused.

On contacting Pastor David, he confessed that the reason he decided to become a pastor was strictly to earn a living and not because he was anointed to serve God as pastor.

The pastor also explained that he ventured into pastoral work, because he saw some other pastors make money through their congregation.

Ochieng explained further that he spent UGX 1m in the process of playing the game, which eventually paid off after some delays. He described the winning as a blessing from God and a faster way to get him out of the poverty he was living in, as opposed to sustaining himself with money from his poor congregation.

He had to close down the church, as he has found a better way of making money now.
