NLRC LICENSES MORE GAMING OPERATORS

The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has licensed three (3) new sports betting companies. Orbital Lottery & Gaming Limited; Africlick Limited (trading as Win Sapa) and Kibo Technologies Ltd, operating as KiboBet.

The presentation ceremony for the sports betting permits to the approved companies were done in the NLRC headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Gbajabiamila, during the ceremony, stated that NLRC’s aim is to encourage both local and foreign investment for the betterment of the nation’s economy and thus enjoined the companies to adhere to the operating standards, of permit holders in the industry and to report any violations to the Commission, to aid its efforts to tackle any impropriety in the industry.

The CEO of Orbital Lottery and Gaming Company; Mr. F. K. Fayad, the CEO of Africlick Limited; Mr. Adolphus Apeh and Ms Morenike Adedeji, a director of KiroBet Company, who represented their companies, during their respective permit presentation ceremony; promised to continue to maintain compliance to the regulator’s rules and regulation.

It is worthy of note however, that with the numerous licensing of new entrants into the Nigerian gaming space, the regulator in its speeches of encouragement and call for adherence to industry standard, is often silent on adherence of operators, to promotion of responsible gambling especially in relation to advertising which seriously needs to be regulated.

Hopefully with all the global interest on the issue of problem gambling and how to minimize harm, the issue will be properly given the attention it so deserved in the Nigerian gaming industry.
