The Canadian superstar rapper ‘Drake’ placed 1 million dollars bet on the Nigerian born Newzealand professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA); Isreal Adesanya, to beat Jared Cannonier in their fight.
Isreal Adesanya is the reigning UFC middleweight Champion while Jared Cannonier is the number one challenger.
Drake is known for putting up bets for top athletes and fighters and sometimes on the perceived underdogs but he has always lost his bets until now. In-fact, Drake who is known a s high stakes gambler, has always had what is called a drake curse, as people he supports or bets on, often loses. He has put up a $275,000 on Jorge Masvidal against Colby Covington in March, which he lost and a $500,000 on Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Oliveira in May which he also lost.
He has also placed bets on other fighters like Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather and is said to have gambled $1.25 million on the superbowl.
However, Isreal locked down Drake’s return on investment (as Drake called it) this time, as he dominated Jared from the beginning to the end of the fight.
