Ghanaian Pastor uses GHc600 Million Company Money to Bet
Popular Bishop Angel Obinim, founder of Internation Godsway Church in Ghana, while preaching during one of his church services at his Tema Branch, revealed that one of his junior pastors, who worked with the company staked a bet with funds of up to GHc600 million belonging to the company.
He made the revelation while praying for a church member who came to him for help over excessive betting and debts.
According to Bishop Obinim, the junior pastor who worked was confident that he was going to win the bet because the odds given to him looked great. He had the intentions of returning the actual amount used for the bet once he wins and then keep the dividends of the bet to himself.
However, his luck didn’t hold as he lost the bet staked. Bishop Obinim mentioned that the company is going after the junior pastor to recover their money.
Sports betting is an activity whereby wagers/bets are placed on the outcome of predictions on results of sporting events.
Sports betting has continued to grow exponentially in Africa especially with the continent’s love of sports and people’s desire to make quick money.
However, there is great need for more education on the harm excessive engagement of this activity can cause not just to the individual but the family and community at large.
