AFCON 2021: PRIZE MONEY FOR THE WINNERS

The African cup of Nations have come and gone and there were losers, wailers and the winners. The rewards for winning at the tournament, has been released.

Senegal as the winner of the tournament, will receive $5 million (N2.8billion) from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for being the winner of the AFCON tournament.

 

Egypt will receive $2.75 million (N1.144billion) for being the runner up to the AFCON trophy, while Cameroon will receive $2.2 million (N914.1million) for winning the third-place. Burkina Faso will also receive $2.2million (N914.1million) for being a semi-finalist.

Those who made it to the quarter finals; Gambia, Tunisia, Morocco and Equitorial Guinea will receive $1.8 million (N720.4M) each from CAF.

Senegal defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the AFCON final on Sunday night in Yaoundé Olembé stadium in Cameroon. In celebration of the win, which is the first time for Senegal, Senegalese President, Sall declared a national holiday.

Sadio Mane who scored the winning penalty, was named Player of the Tournament.
